Nipah Virus Alert: Alipore Zoo Kolkata Mein Bats Ka RT-PCR Test
National Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) ne south Kolkata ke Alipore Zoological Garden mein bats par random RT-PCR tests shuru kar diye hain. Iska aim yeh check karna hai ki kahin yeh bats Nipah virus ke carrier toh nahi hain.
Saturday ko yeh saamne aaya ki NIMR ki ek team ne Thursday aur Friday subah early hours mein zoo ke andar bats se blood aur swab samples collect kiye. Team ne sampling ka kaam subah hone se pehle hi complete kar liya aur zoo se nikal gayi.
Nipah virus ke possible source ko trace karne ke liye, poore state mein bats ka RT-PCR testing kiya ja raha hai. Recent past mein North 24 Parganas district ke Madhyamgram, Barasat aur Basirhat jaise areas ke bats ke samples bhi test kiye gaye hain. Kolkata mein, Alipore Zoo hi ek aisi jagah hai jahan bats ki kaafi achchi population maujood hai.
Nipah ko lekar logon ke darr ko kam karne ke liye, zoo ke bats se liye gaye blood aur swab samples ko RT-PCR testing ke liye bheja gaya hai. Yeh tests National Institute of Virology (NIV) aur Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) state health department ke saath coordination mein kar rahe hain. Is process mein state forest department bhi madad kar raha hai.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests aur Chief Wildlife Warden Sandeep Sundriyal ne media ke ek section ko bataya ki bats ko pakadne ke liye forest department ki permission zaroori hoti hai. Health department ne iske liye approval manga tha, jo forest department ne de diya.
Expert teams poore state ke un areas ka visit kar rahi hain jahan bats paaye jaate hain, taaki samples collect kiye ja saken. Zoo authorities ne bhi precautionary steps liye hain. Alipore Zoological Garden aam taur par subah 9 baje visitors ke liye open hota hai, lekin sampling team ne usse pehle hi apna kaam khatam karke zoo chhod diya.
Officials ke according, yeh decide karne mein kuch aur din lagenge ki Alipore Zoo ke bats safe hain ya nahi. Saturday ko hi expert team Nadia district jaane wali thi, jahan isi tarah bats ke samples collect kiye jaayenge.
Yeh poora action West Bengal mein Nipah virus ke do cases saamne aane ke baad liya gaya hai. Is month ke shuru mein, yeh cases ICMR-AIIMS Kalyani ke Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) mein confirm hue the. Dono affected log nurses hain aur filhaal ek private hospital mein unka treatment chal raha hai.
