Silver Investment Returns: 2005 Me ₹1 Lakh Aaj 2025 Me Kitna Bana?
The wedding season has not yet begun, but gold and silver prices are already creating a stir in the bullion markets. Today, in Varanasi’s bullion market, 24-carat gold touched ₹1,43,770 per 10 grams. In Lucknow, gold was priced at ₹1,45,840 per 10 grams, while in Meerut, it climbed to ₹1,45,850 per 10 grams. Silver has surged to ₹2,90,000 per kilogram.
Speaking to Local 18, Vijay Tiwari, patron of the Varanasi Bullion Association, said that the sharp rise in gold and silver prices has led to a noticeable slowdown in the market. Traders, too, are confused due to the sudden and continuous fluctuations.
The band–baaja–baraat (wedding) season is set to begin in the coming days, but even before that, the bullion market is witnessing a stormy surge. As the markets opened on January 14, gold prices jumped sharply once again. In Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow, gold became costlier by ₹1,240 per 10 grams on Wednesday. Prices in Varanasi and Meerut also shot up to record highs. Silver, too, has registered a historic rise, becoming ₹15,000 per kilogram more expensive in a single day.
On January 14, in Varanasi’s bullion market, 24-carat gold rose by ₹1,090 per 10 grams, pushing its price to ₹1,43,770 per 10 grams. A day earlier, on January 13, it was priced at ₹1,42,680 per 10 grams. In Lucknow, 24-carat gold saw a sharp jump of ₹1,240 per 10 grams, taking the price to ₹1,45,840 per 10 grams, while in Meerut it reached ₹1,45,850 per 10 grams.
Surge in 22-Carat Gold
On Wednesday, the upward trend in 18-carat to 22-carat gold prices continued for the fourth consecutive day in Varanasi’s bullion market. As trading began, 22-carat gold rose by ₹1,040, reaching ₹1,31,800 per 10 grams. On January 13, its price was ₹1,30,760 per 10 grams.
Meanwhile, 18-carat gold also saw a rise of ₹860, taking its price to ₹1,07,870 per 10 grams.
Silver Sets a New Record
Silver created a new record on Wednesday in the bullion market. After a massive jump of ₹15,000 per kilogram, silver touched ₹2,90,000 per kilogram. On January 13, it was priced at ₹2,75,000 per kilogram.
